Chi Nei Tsang with Mandy

Chinese abdominal massage for where tension, digestion, and emotion often live

Focused, deeply attuned work for your belly, the part of you that holds more than you realize.

What is it?

Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced chee-nay sahng) is a deeply attuned form of abdominal massage rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist healing practices. This work was refined into a therapeutic modality by Taoist Master Mantak Chia as part of the Healing Tao system.

In Taoist medicine, the abdomen is the energetic core of the body where all the major systems meet: digestion, elimination, reproduction, emotion, and vitality. It’s also where stress, stagnation, and unprocessed experiences tend to settle.

The belly isn’t just where we digest food, it’s where we digest life.

Just as Thai massage works with sen lines and lom pran, Chi Nei Tsang works with chi, the body’s life-force energy. When chi becomes blocked or stagnant, it creates physical and emotional discomfort, especially in the gut. This work gently helps untangle those knots.

Using slow, precise pressure and circular touch around the navel and deeper abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang helps restore movement and clarity where the body has been holding.

What this work helps with:

Bloating, sluggish digestion, or gut discomfort.

Tension and congestion in the belly or pelvic bowl.

Menstrual pain or cyclical discomfort.

Emotional holding or the sense of being “off-center”.

Fatigue or a feeling of low vitality that doesn’t seem to shift.

Reconnection to your core physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Whether you come in with something specific or just have a sense your system needs space, Chi Nei Tsang offers a way to meet your body from the center out.

What to expect?

When you arrive, you’ll have time to change. I’ll provide Thai fisherman pants, and I’ll ask you to bring a clean loose-fitting shirt (not your street clothes). This helps keep things comfortable and fresh for both of us.

We’ll start with a short check-in, just to get a sense of what’s going on in your body and what brings you in.

The massage is done fully clothed (with your shirt lifted to access your belly) while you lie face-up on a floor mat, supported with pillows and blankets to help you feel settled.

I use a blend of gentle warming touch, deeper targeted pressure and slow circular movements to work across the belly from the surface into the deeper layers. This includes working with fascia, muscles, and organs, as well as deeper energetic points, meeting the body where it’s holding, and inviting space where it’s needed.

I wear gloves and use a small amount of organic, scent-free coconut oil to keep things comfortable.

Most of the 60-minute session is focused directly on your abdomen, with the last 10–15 minutes used to ground the work through the rest of the body.

Pricing & Booking:

No. Chi Nei Tsang is not suitable during pregnancy due to direct work on the abdoman.

Can I get this work if I have IUD contraception?

No. This practice involves deep work around the uterus and lower abdomen, which can interfere with the IUD.

Can I eat or drink before the session?

It is best to avoid heavy meals 2 hours beforehand. A light snack is fine about 1 hour before your session if needed. Chi Nei Tsang works directly on the belly, so arriving with an overly full stomach can feel uncomfortable.

Is Chi Nei Tsang painful?

This work can sometimes feel intense, especially in areas of long-held tension or stagnation. But it should never feel forceful or overwhelming. We'll stay in dialogue the whole time to ensure the pressure is manageable and supportive.

Do I need to undress for this session?

No, you remain fully clothed with your belly exposed for treatment.

What should I wear / bring?

You'll be offered Thai fisherman pants to wear and asked to bring a clean shirt (not your street clothes) to change into when you arrive.

Is the massage just on the belly?

The focus is the abdomen yes, around 45 minutes is spent working directly on the belly. The final 10 - 15 mins are used to ground and integrate the work through the rest of your body.

Is this work emotional?

Sometimes, the belly holds more than just organs. It can store tension from stress, overthinking and unprocessed experiences. If anything arises you'll be supported in a grounded, caring way.

How will I feel after?

Many people feel lighter, calmer or more grounded after a session. Some experience more energy or clarity. Everyone's system is different. You might feel deeply relaxed or notice shifts continuing in the days after.

Can this help with my digestion / period pain / anxiety / fatigue / etc ?

While this work is not a medical treatment, it is designed to support the body's natural ability to regulate and rebalance. You're welcome to bring in your intention and we'll work from there.
